We are concentrating on laptops for Ukrainian refugees since March 2022

Many are finding kindly hosts on the Isle of Wight and desperately need contact with loved ones back home or in other locations on the Island or in this country.

Find our Web page here: Laptops for Ukranians IoW

Computability IW is a very small IW charity which provides computers to those who are possibly not doing so well in a number of ways. Often we can give a first experience of computing or bridge that affordability gap in times of hardship.

If you are in some way qualified and would like to receive a computer or technical support, or support some who could benefit, then please phone 01983 822900 or email
    info@cfd-iw.org.uk

We have available a small selection of PCs, also occasionally a printer. We have an assortment of computer components, and a good range of mostly free software. We only install Linux Mint operating system as this is free and an excellent replacement for Windows (and normally requires no anti-virus software).

We are therefore able to supply mostly at no charge or long-loan anything from this range of equipment. Please check if requesting a computer that you have space to put one, power sockets nearby and a landline telephone for Internet access. A willing computer savvy friend or neighbour can be a great asset, too.

We have some expertise in advising and directing less-enabled people to alternative sources of help. Particularly see the various links on this site. Always feel free to ask.

We welcome donations of laptop computers. Printers are also welcome provided they are currently working with some ink/toner. "We" comprise just a few individuals working under the IW PCUser Group and at present are not a registered charity.

Commercial and business users may wish to visit www.jadestone.co.uk for disposal within WEEE regulations. Refurbished systems are available for purchase from Jamie's Computer Club www.jamies.org.uk in Southampton.
